Live Edge Center Tables
Hi
everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today is about the “Live Edge Center Tables", and I would be showing you two live edge wood center tables for
living room. I have been involved in house renovation recently, and bought some
furniture as well. So I thought to show you those in my posts in case they could
give you some ideas. I showed you the Custom Contemporary Sofas Makeover I got made for my
living and dining rooms earlier. This time it is the unique center tables for
the living room that are the perfect edge to contemporary modern décor, so I'll take you briefly through the table moments.
But
before that, if you like my content, make sure to subscribe to emails on the home page of
my blog "Lifestyle Prism", and give me a follow on my social channels.
Live Edge Wood Center Table
My living room has modern contemporary furniture. So I wanted to keep the modern décor and further the vibe with organic shapes. So I brought nature inside my house. I decided on getting sculptural tables made of natural wood and translated them into modern center tables for living room. Natural wood complements many design styles including modern interior, Zen interior, and of course that also includes minimalism. The live edge wood that is raw and etchy complements modern décor style with its Zen and a wabi-sabi vibe. It also fits eclectic, rustic, and coastal design styles well.
These modern center tables are customized the way
I wanted them to be, so I got a carpenter involved in the way.
I
checked with the carpenter about wood availability and the options I could go
with. So I settled for the Java Plum tree, aka Jamun tree for the live wood
table. It is an independent genus of the berry plant. And an evergreen tropical
tree native to Indian subcontinent and adjoining Southeast Asian regions. Its
wood bark is pinkish in color.
Modern Table Sculpture
I
got two live edge center tables made. This is live-edge wood cut from the tree
trunk. “Live edge” refers to unrefined and natural edges of a wood. In this
design element of live edge wood furniture, the edges are not altered or given
clean lines by woodworking tools. This is done so that the edges represent
original shape and natural edge of the protective tree bark. It is also sometimes called
raw edge table, or tree slab center table.
Live
edge table top thickness is around three inches. And with that I opted for spindle
shaped, pointed solid wood table legs. This other wood was more easily
available in the market. These modern live edge center tables became the perfect accents I could go for to
complement my living space.
The
live edge wood table top needed sealing especially in certain edges where wood had
more exposed cuts on the base, and could be vulnerable to weather. After sealing
and polishing, the wood looks like a medium toned natural brown with a pink
hue. I have placed the sculptural accent tables in my living room, and they
look very beautiful. They serve as sculptural accents to the living room, and
draw all the attention to themselves. I'm very satisfied with the execution.
I’ll post more images of the custom live edge tables on my Instagram and Pinterest home décor board.
That’s
all for today. I hope you liked the wood sculpture center tables, and that it
served some inspiration. Let me know in the comment section below your
thoughts. Thank you and I’ll see you soon. Bye, stay safe!

Those tables look amazing and I love how you wanted to bring nature inside and still keep it in-line with the overall feeling of modern, zen, and minimalism.
